Working within the Head Office of a nationwide fencing, architectural metalwork and joinery company you will work alongside the Head of Operations.
You will establish, manage and oversee compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation throughout the business. To support the business in meeting its duties under such legislation and to provide competent advice. To act as a central resource and to provide support and advice in order ensure that all operatives are working within the remit of such legislation.
You will provide the Head of Operations and the Board with information on legislative changes that are relevant to the business. To provide assistance with the production of method statements and risk assessments and to attend pre-tender and pre-start meetings to facilitate this. To reduce accidents, monitor trends and put into place preventative measures. To enforce best practice and to implement and drive forward a change of culture with regard to safe working.
You will actively promote safe working practices with potential new clients and to provide them with information to gain future orders eg pre qualification questionnaires. To promote healthy working and to assess the occupational health risks to employees and to ensure referral to external specialists if required. To develop environmental management systems and reduce the carbon footprint of the business.
Knowledge/Qualifications/Experience
Nebosh Certificate and/or Nebosh National Certificate in Fire Safety & Risk Management Commercial awareness Environmental qualification eg IMEA Certificate –desirable
Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health – Technician level as minimum Health, safety and environmental experience in a construction environment Resource management
PC skills – Microsoft Office
